One of the key members of the Black Stars team and a prominent figure in the squad that represented Ghana at the just ended FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Alexander Djiku has been handed a match ban for engaging in sports betting activities.
According to the information spotted by this portal, the defender who has been a crucial figure for the Black Stars and his club side, Strasbourg in the Ligue 1 has been given a match ban as well as a heavy fine for engaging in sports betting.
In the press release, the officials hinted that the activity was conducted in the 2020 – 2021 season and Djiku was part of 76 professional players to have been investigated.
The player will subsequently miss the game against PSG when the league returns in January.
The player is however yet to respond to these charges and this portal will share the information once, the player makes a statement.
